Mixed feeds
Up to four sources in one widget, such as Google reviews and Instagram together. How to add them, how they are ordered, what the filters do, and what it costs.
A mixed feed puts up to four sources in one widget, of any types the template can carry: for example your Google reviews, your Instagram in one bento, like the example on our home page. Mixed feeds are on Starter and up.
A calendar’s upcoming events cannot share a widget with other sources, so the calendar is not offered here: give it a widget of its own. JSON feeds and Google Sheets can be mixed like any other source.
Add a source
In the builder, open the Source drawer and press a source under Add another source. Only sources whose type offers the widget’s template are listed. The widget’s sources are listed in order; move one up or down, or remove it. The source chips above still choose the first one.
How the items are ordered
Order has two choices:
- Newest (the default): every source’s items together, newest first.
- Even: one from each source in turn, so a busy source does not crowd out a quiet one.
Items is still the total the widget shows.
Each item stays what it is
A review or a testimonial shows as a review card with its stars, a Facebook, Bluesky, Mastodon or X post or a feed, JSON or sheet item as a post card (a repost or reply keeps its line), and on a feed grid a post with a photo or video, and a Pinterest Pin, is a photo tile. A Kick channel shows as its card above the grid (the first one, if there are two; a second is a tile), and in Bento as a tile. A feed grid in Grid, Carousel or Masonry shows only the items with a photo or video, as it does for one source; Bento puts the others in as cards.
Each photo and card carries a small platform icon by default, so a visitor can tell your Instagram posts from your Google reviews. Turn Platform icon off under Show if you prefer.
The Header option (your profile and a follow link) is for a single Instagram, X or Twitch feed, so a mixed widget does not offer it.
On the Widgets screen and in the builder’s header and Activity tab, a mixed widget is named by its sources, for example “Shop + 2 more”, rather than by the first one alone.
Filters
Each source’s own items are filtered. The minimum rating applies only to the review sources (Google and WordPress.org), so “4 stars and up” keeps your good reviews and all your posts. The photo and keyword filters apply to every source, and the YouTube Shorts choice only to the YouTube items.
What it costs
Nothing extra. Each source keeps its own update speed and spends its own credits, as it does in any other widget; the mixed widget spends none of its own and shows what its sources already have. A source that has not finished its first update joins the widget once it has.
Removing a source
Removing one of a mixed widget’s sources on Sources takes it out of the widget and keeps the rest. Only a widget left with no source is deleted. If you remove the first source, the next one takes its place.
For agents
create_widget, update_widget and setup_widget take sourceIds, a list of one to four source ids. On update_widget it replaces the whole list, and sourceId alone changes only the first. If any of the sources is Instagram, Instagram tagged, Facebook or an agent is pointed at the dashboard to preview the widget, as for that source on its own.
