Google reviews
Paste a Google Maps link or type a business name to show its Google reviews. No sign-in with Google Business is needed.
Overview: Show your Google reviews on your website.
Connect it
- Open Sources and press Add source, then pick Google Reviews.
- In the one field, either paste a link from Google Maps (open the listing, tap Share, copy the link) or type the business name with its city and pick it from the matches. A Place ID works too.
- Check the line Connected to … on the source row. It shows which business was matched, so you can confirm it is yours.
Reviews on Google are public, so there is nothing to authorize.
Tip: paste the Maps link when you have it. It finds the exact listing, and it does not count as a search.
Limits on new places
- Business name searches: 40 a day per account and 80 per network, starting again at 00:00 UTC. A Maps link or a Place ID is not a search.
- Different places: a free account can connect 10 different Google places in any 30 days, removed ones included. Reconnecting a place you already used is fine: paste its Maps link or Place ID (a name search is refused once all 10 are used). Paid plans have no limit.
- A new account on a busy network can connect 1 Google place for its first 3 days, when many accounts were created from the same address or network that day. Adding a card under Credits lifts it at once (nothing is charged).
- Waiting for tomorrow: new Google places are fetched up to a daily number shared by everyone on TileSet, and up to 2 a day for one free account. Past either, a new Google source on a free account still connects, and its source row says “Waiting for tomorrow”: its reviews arrive after 00:00 UTC, and nothing is charged until then. There is nothing to do. Paid accounts never wait, and Google sources already fetched keep updating as usual.
The reason for all four: Google reviews come from a paid review data service, and the first gather of a new place’s reviews is the expensive part. See Fair use.
What is fetched
The business’s reviews with reviewer name and photo, stars, date, text and the owner’s reply. The newest 24 are kept at first. A monthly photo pass can raise the stored count to 72 for photo reviews.
On a review wall you can add a rating summary above the reviews and a Leave a review button that opens Google’s own review form for this business: see Layout and styling.
In the builder’s Show as row: Reviews, the review wall a new Google widget starts on, and Photos only, a photo wall of only the reviews that include customer photos. See Templates. Star, photo and keyword filters are on Growth and up: Filters.
How often it updates
Daily at the fastest, then every 3 days or weekly. A Google source costs more credits per update than most sources, because the review data comes from a paid provider. See Update speed and schedules. That provider’s monthly limit is shared, so if this month’s share runs low, Google updates slow down for everyone (paid plans last) until the month turns: see Slower this month.
On the free plan, a source whose widgets have been shown at least once, and then not viewed for 14 days, stops refreshing. It starts again the next time someone loads the page. The wall keeps showing the reviews it already has.
Reconnecting
There is nothing to reconnect: no per-account token is involved. If the wrong business was matched, remove the source and connect it again with the exact Maps link for your listing. On the free plan the wrong one still counts toward the 10 places in any 30 days and the 8 new sources in any 7 days.
