Kick

Show whether a Kick channel is live, with the stream's title, category and viewers, and play it in Kick's own player.

Overview: Show your Kick channel’s live status.

Connect it

  1. Open Sources and press Add source, then pick Kick (its subtitle is “Live status card”). The form is Connect Kick.
  2. In Channel name or link, type the channel’s name (with or without the @) or paste a link to its page on kick.com. The box at the top of Add a source (Find a source or paste a link) works out a kick.com link for you.

A Kick page that is not a channel, such as kick.com/categories/…, does not name the channel, so the paste box answers “That link does not name the channel. Paste the channel’s link, like kick.com/name.” and the Connect Kick form answers “That is not a Kick channel name. Enter the channel’s name (letters, digits, hyphens or underscores, up to 25) or paste the link to its kick.com page, like kick.com/name.” A channel name Kick does not know is refused when you connect, with “Kick has no channel with that name. Check the spelling, or paste the link to the channel’s kick.com page.”

There is nothing to authorize: no sign-in to Kick, any channel, on every plan. The source follows the channel’s id, so a renamed channel keeps working.

Through an agent, use connect_source with { "type": "kick", "kickChannel": "name" }, or setup_widget with source set to kick and a query (the channel name or a kick.com link), or just a kick.com link as the query. Through the API, POST /v1/sources takes type kick, "mode": "live" and kickChannel.

What it shows

A Kick source is one channel’s live status, shown as one card. It is built on Kick’s official public API only, so there are no past broadcasts and no clips.

  • Live: a “Live now” chip, the stream’s title, its category and viewer count (“Food & Drink · 128 watching”), and the live picture, with a “Watch on Kick” link. A click on the picture plays the stream in Kick’s own player on your page, muted at first, whether or not Lightbox is on. The visitor unmutes it in the player. Live stream on the customization card decides where: Lightbox (the default) opens it in the lightbox, Inline plays it right in the card, at any size. Kick’s player loads only on that click, never with the page. Through an agent or the API, the option is liveStream, "lightbox" or "inline". A stream Kick marks as mature shows the channel’s banner instead of its live picture, and the banner links to the channel on kick.com.
  • Offline: the channel’s banner and its name, an “Offline” chip and a “Follow on Kick” link to the channel.

Only the feed grid is offered (see Templates), with one card. There are no likes, counts or ratings, and no header option, since the card names the channel. In the Bento layout a Kick source shows as a plain tile (the live picture, or the banner when offline), without the live card. In a mixed feed on Grid, Carousel or Masonry, the card sits above the grid.

Agents and API keys never receive Kick content: describe_source_content says the content is not summarized for agents, and GET /v1/sources/:id/content answers 403 to an API key. The content reaches a page only through the widget. To check what a Kick widget shows, use the preview in the dashboard.

Live status

The card is read again from Kick whenever the widget is viewed, at most every 2 minutes for a channel. This is free (no credits) and does not depend on the update speed you chose. If Kick cannot be reached, the widget shows the card it has, and once that is more than 20 minutes old it shows the channel’s name without saying live or offline.

How often it updates

A Kick update costs 1 credit. The fastest speed is daily on Free and hourly on Starter and up (hourly is the fastest for Kick on every paid plan), the same as Twitch. Slower speeds use fewer credits. Update now waits at least 15 minutes between updates of one Kick source. Connect lookups are limited to 10 a day per account and 20 per network, as for Twitch and X. While Kick tells TileSet’s app it is asking too often, a new connect answers “Kick is busy for this app right now, so nothing was looked up. Try again in a minute.” for about a minute. See Update speed and schedules and Plans and credits. On the free plan a source nobody has viewed for 14 days pauses until its next view.

The 24 hour rule

Kick’s developer terms allow a copy of its content for 24 hours only. So TileSet never shows a copy more than 23 hours old: past that, the next view of a widget fetches the channel again, free, whatever update speed you chose.

A Link in bio block for a Kick source shows the card, read again on views like a widget’s. If Kick cannot be reached and the card is more than 20 minutes old, or the channel is offline with no banner, the block shows nothing. Once its copy is 23 hours old, the block shows nothing until the source’s next update. For a source on a Link in bio page, choose Twice a day or faster (Starter and up).

Pictures are not copied. Your visitors’ browsers load them from Kick (images.kick.com and files.kick.com). The player is Kick’s own (player.kick.com), so a visitor who plays the stream loads Kick’s player, and Kick’s own privacy policy applies to it. If your site sets a content security policy, it must allow frame-src https://player.kick.com for the lightbox player; see Install snippet.

Reconnecting

Nothing to reconnect: there is no sign-in to expire. If the wrong channel was matched, remove the source and connect it again with the channel’s link.
