YouTube

Show a channel's latest uploads from its @handle, with a setting for Shorts.

Overview: Embed your YouTube channel.

Connect it

  1. Open Sources and press Add source, then pick YouTube.
  2. Enter the channel’s @handle, its channel ID, or a link to it on YouTube. TileSet checks that the channel exists.

Uploads are public, so there is nothing to authorize.

What is fetched

The channel’s latest uploads (the newest 24 are kept). In Grid and Carousel, tiles are wide (16:9), and with Only Shorts selected they switch to tall (9:16). Masonry follows each thumbnail’s shape and Bento its own cell shapes. On the widget, Shorts can be set to All videos, Hide Shorts or Only Shorts, on every plan. A video whose format cannot be determined is left out by Hide Shorts and Only Shorts. View counts are not shown. Videos play in the lightbox.

How often it updates

Every hour at the fastest on Starter and up (daily on Free), slower steps down to every 3 days. A YouTube update costs about twice what most sources cost. See Update speed and schedules.

Reconnecting

Nothing to reconnect. If the wrong channel was matched, remove the source and connect it again with a different handle.

YouTube’s rules let us keep the channel’s name and video details for at most 30 days without checking them again. Every update checks them, and a source that has stopped updating is checked on our side before 30 days pass, at no credit cost. If YouTube no longer finds the channel (it was deleted, for example), the source shows This YouTube source has no channel handle or id stored: if the channel still exists, connect it again; otherwise delete the source.
