Monthly cap, top-ups and billing
Cap what the account can spend each month, buy extra credits, change or cancel a plan, and what a failed payment does.
Two screens in the sidebar’s Account group hold all of this. Both show your credit balance and link to each other.
Plans has a card per paid plan (price, credits, the button to choose or switch), then a comparison table with the plans across and the features down, grouped by area (sources and speeds, widgets and layouts, Link in bio, Testimonials, Analytics). Your plan’s column is marked. While prices are drafts, one line above the cards says so (and, where checkout runs in test mode, that no card is charged). Next to a feature that is on paid plans only there is an i button that opens the reason beside it; Escape or a click elsewhere closes it. On a phone the table shows your plan and one more: pick which with the plan buttons above it. Your billing country, the badge switch and the way back to the free plan are here too.
Credits has your balance and its refill date, the monthly cap and time zone (picked from a list), recent activity with the source each update was for, top-ups and the card bonus. The top bar’s credit count opens it.
Monthly cap
Set the most credits the whole account may spend in a calendar month. It is on every plan. Once it is reached, nothing spends credits until the 1st of the next month (UTC): scheduled updates, Update now and webhooks included. Your widgets keep showing what they have, and TileSet’s free refresh still runs. When your speeds will reach the cap before the month turns, the credits card on Sources says from about when updates pause, with a Raise the cap button. It opens Credits, which repeats the warning above the cap field and puts the cursor in it. While the cap will stop updates, the dot beside the credit count in the top bar is amber. You can still connect a new source at the cap; the dashboard warns you first, and its Raise the cap button saves the smallest cap that covers it. If the balance cannot cover a new source’s first update, the warning lists the fixes, and on the free plan Add a card (free credits, nothing is charged) comes first when it covers the update. Raise or remove the cap at any time.
Top-ups
On an active paid plan you can buy a block of extra credits with Buy credits on Credits. A block is 1,000 credits for $5 before tax, and top-ups never expire. The screen shows the price with your tax. A free account cannot buy top-ups; its way to more credits is a plan. While a payment is failing, top-ups are paused until it goes through.
Change or cancel a plan
To start a plan, press Choose on its card, add your billing country and pay on the secure checkout page. An account has one plan, so one checkout page is open at a time: choosing another plan closes the one you opened before. Once you are subscribed, Switch to on another plan, or Manage billing, opens the billing page where you change the plan or the card. You can also Pause a plan: you are not charged while it is paused, and your widgets run on the free plan’s rules until you resume it. If a renewal date passed while it was paused, resuming starts a new billing period that day and charges for it, with that period’s credits. If your bank asks you to confirm that payment, or the card is declined, Resume opens a secure payment page instead, and the plan stays paused until the payment goes through there. To stop paying, choose Move to the free plan. The plan stays on until the end of the billing period, then your widgets keep working on the free plan’s rules. Keep my plan undoes it before then. You can tell us why; you do not have to.
A refund
A refunded payment takes back the credits it paid for, never below a zero balance. A top-up loses its credits in proportion to the refund. When this month’s plan payment is refunded in full, the plan ends at once and what is left of this month’s plan credits goes too. Your widgets keep working on the free plan’s rules. Each change shows under recent activity on Credits.
A failed payment
Paid features stay on for 14 days while the payment is retried. After that your account is on free rules. Widgets keep serving and no data is removed.
Tax
Before your first checkout you give your billing country (and US state). Tax is added based on it. If you tick Buying for a business and give a valid VAT or tax id, VAT is not charged. You can change these later with Edit next to your billing country on Plans.
The “Shown with TileSet” link
A paid plan hides it on your widgets; a switch on Plans turns it back on if you prefer.
